Vermaelen Get New Contract from Arsenal

LONDON - Defender Thomas Vermaelen is committed to the future at Arsenal by signing a four-year contract with the North London club.

Vermaelen missed most of last season struggling with injuries and he has struggled for fitness at the beginning of this campaign, but his reputation did not decline, this Belgian international player remains a sturdy fortress line behind the Gunnners.

25-old central defender joins the Warehouse Team bullets from Ajax in 2009. He just returned to action this month when he completed his recovery from injury to his ankle problem.

Meanwhile, Vermaelen also said he was happy with the signing of a new contract with the Gunners which means Arsene Wenger's club have great confidence against him.

Arsenal fans will hope that the captain Robin van Persie will follow in the footsteps Vermaelen. Van Persie is still embarrassed to talk about his future in recent weeks. That triggered speculation he could follow the lead players like Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who are out of the Emirates Stadium.
